National Tech to Gov Virtual Hiring Forum + Job Fair

Ready to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives, but not sure where to start? If you are ready to

join the federal workforce, considering a career change, a recent graduate, or have been impacted by

recent tech layoffs, Tech to Gov is here to help with a series of virtual recruitment events running

through 2025.

The event on October 31, 2024, will inspire, prepare, and connect technologists with job opportunities

in the Federal government.

Over 20 federal agencies will be represented, looking for:

● All levels of interest: from those who are prepared to learn about federal roles to those who are

ready to apply for jobs.

● All levels of experience: from recent graduates, to early, mid, and senior career professionals.

Individual Contributors to Executives.

● All fields: product, engineers, designers, researchers, content strategists, data analysts,

operations, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI) and AI enabling roles and more.

The list of participating agencies will be announced starting on October 16, 2024.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is contracting with the Volcker Alliance and Tech

Talent Project, organizers of previous Tech to Gov events, to host this series of hiring forums.

Our partners at Coding it Forward is wrapping up our 2023 Fellowships, which empower early-career technologists to innovate in local, state, and federal government offices across the United States. 

They’re excited for our Fellows to share more about their high-impact work at our Demo Day on August 16th at 12 p.m. PT / 3 p.m. ET. This event will spotlight how their Fellows are creating a more equitable and effective government for all, with projects including:

•  Expanding apprenticeships and other accessible pathways to high-paying jobs

•  Improving the experience of applying for unemployment benefits

•  Leveraging geospatial data to improve situational awareness during emergencies

Please join the Digital Service Network for a free virtual government digital service job fair featuring various leaders in digital government currently looking for talented technologists. This event is free to attend and includes open positions in digital services, information technology, and data.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with and learn from hiring managers; and receive detailed information about applying for a government job. You’ll leave the event with information about open positions and the specific benefits related to public service jobs. After the event, employers will follow up with all attendees with application information about current positions, and future positions as well.

Everyone is welcome to attend, from students to senior executives. There are currently open positions for all levels of experience, ranging from entry level positions, to early- and mid-career opportunities, to senior management positions.

This event is organized by the Digital Service Network, a partnership program from the Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation and U.S. Digital Response, and supported by the Tech Talent Project, Technologists for the Public Good, and Georgetown Tech Policy Initiative.

Transitioning from Big Tech to Civic Tech

Are you considering a career change into civic technology, but not sure where to start or if the move is right for you?

Hear from our panel of talented technical employees who have made the move from big tech to civic tech and how these industries reinforce each other. Careers in the public sector can range from working within government agency teams to organizations who offer support, like U.S. Digital Response. While positions and teams differ across the country, one thing’s for sure: almost everyone is hiring right now.

Our panelists will share their journeys and dive deep into how working in civic technology is different from their previous tech careers, what opportunities are out there, and how to craft a career trajectory that doesn’t pigeon hole yourself into any one industry.

Demo Day will take place at the Aspen Institute’s DC Headquarters at 2300 N Street NW. The fellows will present their projects from 3:30-5pm ET with a cocktail hour from 5-6:30pm ET. We request mask-wearing except when eating or drinking during this event. We will provide free rapid COVID-19 tests upon arrival.
